NNS BEECROFT operates through well-structured departments dedicated to delivering excellence in naval operations.
THE BASE ADMINISTRATIVE OFFICER
COMMANDER EE OMOKHODION
The Base Administrative Officer is responsible for the upkeep and maintenance of all buildings and the general cleanliness and beautification of the Base. He is also charged with the organisation and welfare of the Base civilian staff, amongst others.
THE ACCOUNTS & BUDGETS DEPARTMENT
COMMANDER AB AWOLOLA
The Accounts and Budget Department is responsible to the Commander for coordinating all votes and strictly supervising the receipt of public revenue and its safekeeping. The Department maintains bank accounts where all public funds are kept and disbursed.
The Department also initiates, collates, and compiles the Base budget when necessary. The Department is headed by the Base Accounts and Budget Officer and supported by 8 ratings.
THE ISLAMIC AFFAIRS DEPARTMENT
COMMANDER BA SHITTU
The Islamic Affairs Department is the custodian of religious guidance, spiritual welfare, and moral discipline within the Base. It is responsible to the Commander for all matters relating to Islamic rites, counselling, and promoting ethical conduct among the personnel and their families.
The Department also coordinates Juma’at prayers, daily prayers, Islamic lectures, and Da’wah activities, and it provides guidance on social, moral, and welfare issues affecting the Muslim community. The Department is headed by the Base Imam, assisted by the Deputy Base Imam, and supported by both Senior and Junior Rates.
THE GUNNERY DEPARTMENT
LIEUTENANT COMMANDER I MOHAMMED
The Gunnery Department is the custodian of military regimentation, discipline, drills, and armouries.
The Department is responsible to the Commander for all ceremonial duties and matters relating to arms, ammunition, and the operational and administrative functions of the Base. The Department is headed by the Base Gunnery Officer and supported by 142 ratings.
THE MEDICAL DEPARTMENT
LIEUTENANT COMMANDER FB FUANBIAL
The Medical Department oversees healthcare services for naval personnel, civil staff, and veterans while providing critical support during operations. The department is responsible to the Commander for all medical duties and ensures health matters align with the base’s operational and administrative needs. The Department is headed by the Base Medical Officer and supported by 19 ratings.
THE ROMAN CATHOLIC CHAPLAINCY
LIEUTENANT COMMANDER MM VANDU
The Chaplaincy Department (RC) is saddled with pastoral care for the spiritual well-being of Catholic personnel of the Base, their families, and civilian worshippers around the Base.
The department has the sole responsibility of providing spiritual advice to the leadership of the Base and other roles that may be assigned to her by the superior authority. The department is headed by a Lieutenant Commander as the chaplain and 2 ratings as assistant chaplains.
THE PROTESTANT CHAPLAINCY
LIEUTENANT COMMANDER BM BENSON
The Chaplaincy Department (Protestant) is saddled with pastoral care for the spiritual well-being of Protestant personnel of the base, their families, and civilian worshippers around the base.
The department has the sole responsibility of providing spiritual advice to the leadership of the Base and other roles that may be assigned to her by the superior authority. The department is headed by a Lieutenant Commander as the chaplain and 2 ratings as assistant chaplains.
THE INFORMATION DEPARTMENT
LIEUTENANT H IBRAHIM
The Information Department is the image maker for the Base. It is responsible for keeping the public abreast of all activities of the Base. It carries out media and public relations functions by ensuring cordial relationships between the Base and its Stakeholders.
Also, it provides the timely dissemination of press releases/statements and organises press briefings and conferences. The department is headed by the Base Information Officer, assisted by a Sub Lieutenant and supported by 5 ratings.
THE BANDS DEPARTMENT
LIEUTENANT AO AJAYI
The Bands Department is responsible for playing on Parades, Colours, flag shows, and providing a Bugler for quarter guard/burial and Musical entertainment at both Military and Social functions.
The department also participates in Nigerian Navy Week celebrations, clearing of the lower deck, and inspection tune. The Band Department is headed by the Band Officer and supported by 25 ratings.
THE INFORMATIONS AND COMMUNICATIONS TECHNOLOGY DEPARTMENT
LIEUTENANT S AGANG
The Communication and Information Technology (CIT) Department is responsible for ensuring accurate, secure and efficient communication.
The department maintains constant oversight of all relevant signals and correspondence, ensuring that messages are sent and received promptly within the Base. It is headed by the Base Communication and Information Technology Officer and supported by 11 ratings.
THE TECHNICAL DEPARTMENT
LIEUTENANT AB AGBOOLA
The Technical Department is the arm of military technical operations and logistics, primarily focusing on naval functions. Its responsibilities include managing the power supply, daily utilities, and many other essential activities.
As the backbone, the department supports ships’ functionality and oversees offshore and onshore naval activities. The department is headed by the Base Technical Officer and supported by 36 ratings.
THE MOTOR TRANSPORT DEPARTMENT
SUB LIEUTENANT AO CHUKWUEMEKA
The Motor Transport Department is responsible to the Commander for all matters related to Motor Vehicles, as well as the maintenance of all the vehicles in the Base for deployment and operational duties. The Department is headed by the Motor Transport Officer and supported by 4 ratings and 4 casual civilian drivers.
